Development of a Real-Time Continuous Measurement System for Tree Radial Direction

Tree diameter at breast height (DBH) is the most fundamental factor in modelling tree growth, but current DBH measurement instruments mainly focus on instantaneous acquisition, making it difficult to measure growth continuously and accurately. In this study, we propose a wireless sensing network that can transmit data signal-free environments, combine sensor computer technologies develop real-time continuous system for radials, which has advantages of working real-time, being low-cost stable, enabling high-precision. It be applied trees range 50 mm–380 mm, with accuracy 0.001 mm. Additionally, whole-point sampling, conducted 24 h per day, integrates measurement, transmission, storage visualization analysis. After measuring field year, initially reveals change within test area year. This study provides scientific basis researching microscopic pattern establishing model, will further optimised improved terms appearance structure, communication power supply future.
